Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2). Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).
*Opening Prayer
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading from Psalm 25 and 130 Leader: The days are surely coming, says our God, when justice and righteousness will appear. We lift up our souls to the Lord as we wait in hope, longing for Christ’s return.
All: In that day, God’s promises will be made known to us. We will praise God’s goodness and declare his salvation. His grace will overflow in our redemption.
Leader: O Israel, hope in the Lord and in his unfailing love. Lift up your souls in trust and praise; open your hearts and minds to God’s teaching.
All: We give thanks to God for all life’s blessings. We watch and pray in abiding faith. Our hope is in the Lord because of his great mercy and love.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
God my Savior, remember your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of our youth and our rebellious ways. Forgive us for sins that separate us from each other and from you. Deliver us from habits that could destroy us. Teach us and empower us to live according to your covenant. Look upon our afflictions and distress with mercy and take away all our sins. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
No one who hopes in the Lord will be put to shame. Good and upright is the Lord, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. He guides the humble in what is right. In Christ, he forgives our iniquity, though it is great. All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness for those who keep his covenant. Psalm 25:3, 8-10
