From the Pastor’s Desk: “In the Face of Challenges, God Is with You!”
When Moses was faced with the great challenge of going before Pharoah to demand the freedom of the Israelite people, God reassured him, “I will certainly be with you.” (Exodus 3:12) This promise, spoken to Moses, is also for us as we come against challenges! In August, the calendar turns from the restful, unregimented days of summer to the high demands of a new school year, and people of all ages and communities feel the awakening surge of energy… it is time to get busy! Parents must provide clothes and supplies to meet the needs and expectations of students; teachers must be prepared to structure the days and engage the minds of learners; children must shift gears from recreation to the mental and social challenges of school. It is not just those with school-age children or employment in the educational system who feel the stirring and face challenges. Everyone is adapting to new routines and changing schedules. As August brings its challenges, remember that God is with you. He gives meaning and purpose to our lives as we interact with communities around us. Be sustained by the promise of his unfailing love and protection, according to his plan.
Psalm 57:1-3 laments the difficulties of life but rejoices in God’s promise to protect and deliver his people. “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me… My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.” What a reassurance it is to know that even as we face challenges, we have a place in God’s plan, and He will equip us to fulfill our purpose in Him. Psalm 57:7-10 sings, “My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises! Wake up, my heart! I will wake the dawn with my song! I will thank you, Lord, among all the people… For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds…” As August brings its challenges, we can reach for the highest stars because God will certainly be with us!

July Workday Improves Grounds and Builds Community
On July 19, a six-person team including members of Pine Tree (Pastor Cindy Barton, Vernon Stumblingbear, David Hardin, and Steven Parker) and Elmira (Tammy Bailey and Anne Cox) CP Churches came together to trim bushes and shrubs on the Pine Tree CP Church grounds. A wonderful picture of Christian community was on display as people from the two churches brought a blend of gifts – time, energy, power tools, a trailer, brute strength, and a gentle touch when needed – to accomplish much-needed improvements. The morning’s work ended with a refreshing lunch provided by Helen Nunn. We are so thankful for the work of all involved!
