Prelude Lighting of the Candles
Opening Scripture Sentence: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path… Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. Psalm 119:105; 111-112
*Opening Prayer Pastor
*Call to Worship Responsive Reading, Psalm 65:8-13
Leader: Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
All: You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain.
Leader: You drench the furrows and level the ridges; you soften the land with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.
All: The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks, and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout and sing for joy! Help us to be like the fertile soil in which your Word is planted, that Christ’s harvest in the world may be great.

Call to Confession
Unison Prayer of Confession
All-knowing God, you understand us more deeply than we understand ourselves. You see how the cares of this life burden us and distract us from living for you. Our thoughts and actions are shortsighted and self-centered. We take much for granted, failing to value the wonder of life, the gift of family and friends, and the amazing reality of your Spirit dwelling in us. We want to be like good soil, receiving the seed of your word with understanding that nourishes roots of trust and joy. Free us from all that keeps us from bearing fruit for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Silent Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Pastor
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ the law of the Spirit of life sets us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1). The words God has spoken are spirit and life; he has given to us the words of eternal life in Christ (John 6:63-68).

Our Giving to the Lord Pastor
God has made a great investment in us through the sowing of his Word in our hearts. The harvest depends on how we nourish and act upon God’s seed planted in us. We rejoice in the opportunity to receive and share the Word of God.
